We typically process repeat prescription requests within two working days. If you have setup a nominated pharmacy, the approved prescription will be sent directly to pharmacy that you have nominated.
You can find the nearest pharmacy to your location on this NHS.uk site.
Ordering repeat prescriptions
With the agreement of your GP, you can get further supplies of regular medicines without having to be seen by a doctor every time.
Prescriptions are processed in the order they are requested. To allow time for necessary checks to be made we need 2 full working days to issue prescriptions so please allow for this when ordering.
If you need your prescription issued very early or for a longer duration than usual because you are going on holiday, please explain your need in writing on the form. Usually, we do not issue prescriptions more than 10 days before they are due.
The easiest ways to order repeat prescriptions are:
- using your NHS account
This account shows you all your repeat medicine and dosage and you can choose the ones you need.
You can also:
- Via email gmicb-mh.jmcscripts@nhs.net .
- using the GP online system: Accurx
- Request the reception counter using the Prescription request slip. Note the items you require and place the slip in the box.
- By post (please enclose a stamped addressed envelope.)
Crumpsall Medical Practice, Crumpsall Vale Intermediate Care Unit, Delaunays Road, Manchester, M8 5RB
We do not take repeat prescription requests over the phone.
Non-urgent advice: Please remember
You may have to come in and see the doctor before the medication is issued, so make sure you order your medication in good time.
Online requests are picked up until 10:00am. (Any request made after this time will be actioned the following working day). Please leave two full working days between ordering repeat medication and its collection.
Any medication order placed after 10:00am will be sent for processing on the next working day (Monday – Friday) and will be issued accordingly.
We will only issue 1 month’s medication at a time. If you have a very special, one off, reason for asking for more than 1 month’s supply please provide details as this will have to be approved by your GP.
Questions about your prescription
If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription. You can also contact the practice online by submitting an online consultation, call us on 01617409864 or visit the practice reception.
The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.
Medication reviews
If you have a repeat prescription, we may ask you to come in for a regular review. We will be in touch when you need to come in for a review.

What to do with old medicines
Take it to the pharmacy you got it from. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.
Nominating a pharmacy
You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.
You can add or change your nominated pharmacy at any time:
- Online, on the app or website where you order repeat prescriptions
- By visiting the surgery reception
- At any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions
About pharmacists
As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:
- coughs
- colds
- sore throats
- tummy trouble
- aches and pains
They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.
Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.
Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.
